This year many superyachts will be seen in the region of Venice / Venezia, during the period of one of the hottest art events in the world. The 2022 edition of the Arte Biennale is taking place from 23 April to 27 November 2022 with exclusive previews from the 20th April. After the hiatus of the pandemic this will surely be a chance to relax and enjoy a cultural extravaganza.
This 59th international art exhibition is curated by Cecilia Alemani: the first Italian woman to hold this position, who is giving the opportunity to artists to reflect their visions and society in The Milk of Dreams. Cecilia Alemani has organized many exhibitions of contemporary artists and is currently Director and Chief Curator of High Line Art in New York.
Alongside the main exhibition are 31 collateral events in diverse locations and promoted by non-profit national and international institutions. They offer a wide range of contributions and participation that enrich the diversity of voices that characterize this exhibition with its focus on contemporary art.
This international art exhibition has a long history and is recognised as one of the most important contemporary art events in the world. In 1893, the Venetian City Council passed a resolution to set up a biennial exhibition of Italian Art to celebrate the silver anniversary of King Umberto I and Margherita of Savoy. A year later, a section of the exhibition was set aside for foreign artists alongside uninvited Italian artists selected by a jury. The first Biennale, 1st International Art Exhibition of the City of Venice, was opened on April 30, 1895, by the Italian King and Queen and attended by 224,000 visitors. The Biennale now has an attendance of over 500,000 visitors, you can visit https://www.labiennale.org/en/art/2022 for more information on the exhibition.
