Meet DIDYMOS Chef: Massimiliano Provenzano
Massimiliano was born in Palermo in 1985 and started working with West Coast International 14 years ago, sailing around the coast of Italy including the Naples area and the islands. Previously he worked for prestigious hotels in Venice and in Montecarlo at the Palace Hotel.
Having studied cooking at college attaining several Masters and Haute Cuisine Certificates, he fell in love with sailing in 2007 and so developed his culinary skills on board for the next 17 years. He has a passion for Mediterranean flavours, and says his speciality is desserts. He has attended many courses to develop his skills resulting in wonderful works of art on a plate! Max likes to prepare new recipes for his guests, which he has tested during the Winter and personalized to reflect the exquisite Mediterranean style.
Max has worked on several yachts including My Lotty, Aria and now Didymos. Several clients rebook the same yacht, just to be sure to have Massimiliano as the resident chef.
Having decided to work on the yachts it has enabled him to combine his love of the sea, boats and cooking. He loves the beautiful places they visit and especially the availability of fresh ingredients. He can often be seen in the early morning at the local markets, choosing the best fresh products. The challenge he says, is the confined space to cook in. But this depends on the yacht as some have large galley areas. He loves guests who are interested in the cuisine, as long as they stand clear of the kitchen! As for the future – Massimiliano loves what he does and wants to continue combining his life on the waves in the Summer with the yoga teaching he does in the winter months.
