On 3rd June 2015, and following The Adviser Centre Monthly Review Meeting on 28th May 2015, Artemis Monthly Distribution was added to The Adviser Centre as a Recommended fund.

The fund has been co-managed by James Foster and Jacob de Tusch-Lec since its launch in May 2012.  It is a mixed asset fund, typically featuring 60% in bonds and 40% in global equities.  Mr Foster has a long track record of investing strategically across fixed income markets, while Mr de Tusch-Lec manages the global equity portion using the process that he developed for the successful Artemis Global Income fund.

The primary objective of the fund is to generate an attractive monthly dividend.  Additionally, and in acknowledgement of the relatively conservative audience for this fund, the managers aim to limit capital volatility as far as possible through diversification and the careful calibration of the bond and equity exposures.  Indeed, understanding the importance of an integrated approach to the overall portfolio, the bond and equity portions are deliberately complementary and the managers work in tandem to adjust underlying positions in order to reduce common exposures and characteristics.

It is noteworthy that the managers are dedicated to delivering an attractive ‘natural’ rate of income - there is no attempt to over-reach for yield or to manufacture income using derivatives.  In this sense, investors should expect the yield to fluctuate in keeping with prevailing conditions and opportunities.

We regard the fund as a strong proposition for investors seeking an attractive monthly dividend from a portfolio of bonds and equities and we are very pleased to include it on our Recommended list.
