On 8th February 2016, following The Adviser Centre Monthly Review Meeting on 5th February 2016, Jupiter Distribution was added to The Adviser Centre as a Recommended fund.

The fund has been co-managed by Alastair Gunn and Rhys Petheram since February 2012.  It is a traditional mixed asset fund, typically featuring 70% in bonds and 30% in primarily UK equities.  Mr Petheram is an established member of Jupiter's fixed income team, while Mr Gunn has over 25 years of experience in UK equities.

The primary objective of the fund is to generate a steady level of income, paid monthly.  Additionally, and in acknowledgement of the relatively conservative audience for this fund, the managers are mindful of preserving capital as far as possible through diversification and the careful calibration of the bond and equity portions.  Indeed, the managers understand the importance of an integrated approach to the overall portfolio, and so the bond and equity portions are diversified and deliberately complementary.  This is underpinned by a strong focus on risk and they think carefully about risk and reward implications at both the stock and aggregate portfolio level.

It is noteworthy that the managers are dedicated to delivering a steady income stream.  In practice, they aspire to deliver eleven equal monthly interest payments and a final payment incorporating the residual amount.  There is no attempt to over-reach for yield or manufacture income using derivatives, hence the income payment is in keeping with prevailing market conditions.

We regard the fund as a strong proposition for investors seeking a steady, monthly income stream from a conservatively managed portfolio of bonds and equities.  As such, we are delighted to include the fund in our Recommended list.
