Day 1 : Your adventure begins in the stunning town of Bonifacio, famous for its mediaeval citadel and narrow winding streets which are worthy of exploration. Perched on limestone cliffs you can take in breathtaking views across the sparkling Mediterranean Sea, before you set sail from Bonifacio, passing through the narrow entrance to its natural harbour. As you cruise along the coast, you will be stunned by the hidden coves nestled amoung the dramatic cliffs. Anchoring near the Lavezzi Islands, a stunning archipelago, enjoy your first night on board, dining under the stars with the setting sun as your backdrop.
Day 2 : After a leisurely morning swim, you can continue your journey north up Corsica’s west coast to the beautiful Roccapina bay with its famous crouching lion rock formation. Here you will be sure to find some of the island’s most pristine beaches and crystal clear waters nestled in secluded bays. Spend the day swimming, snorkeling, or simply relaxing on the beach, or perhaps take a short hike into the surrounding hills, to enjoy the spectacular coastal views. Finally you can settle down to a peaceful night at anchor lit only by the stars at night.
Day 3 : We continue our voyage along the coast to Propriano, a lively town offering bustling streets and Corsican delicacies at the market. Then after lunch you can either visit the prehistoric site of Filitosa with its mysterious megalithic statues, enjoy watersports in the bay, or simply relax on one of Propriano’s beautiful beaches. Staying in Propriano gives you the opportunity to dine on the waterfront, sampling fresh seafood and local wines before you head back on board for the night.
Day 4 : Sail on to Ajaccio, Corsica’s capital and Napoleon’s birthplace, and you’ll find a vibrant city offering history, culture and natural beauty. Perhaps take some time to explore the historic centre, Maison Bonaparte of Napoleon’s childhood, and the imposing Ajaccio Cathedral. Of course the bustling markets selling authentic charcuterie, cheeses, and wines are not to be missed. After lunch, we set sail to the nearby dramatic Iles Sanguinaires, where you can enjoy swimming or snorkeling in the clear waters around the islands, well known for their stunning sunsets. In the evening it’s time to paint the town red enjoying the nightlife in Ajaccio, or if you prefer – settle down to a quiet dinner on board.
Day 5 : It’s time to leave Ajaccio, and as you head to the small village of Porto nestled between the mountains and the sea, look out for the towering red cliffs of Calanques de Piana, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the afternoon a boat tour will show you some of the unique wildlife and striking rock formations of the Scandola Nature Reserve, another UNESCO World Heritage site, and it is an ideal opportunity to snorkel or dive in this stunning region. As evening approaches, while anchored in Porto’s harbour, you may like to dine at a local restaurant, enjoying views of the Genoese Tower and the surrounding mountains.
Day 6: A short sail from Porto and you will arrive in the tiny village of Girolata, accessible only by boat or on foot. Set in a rugged landscape with a pristine bay, you will feel you have stepped back in time as you stroll between the stone houses and enjoy Girolata’s quiet charm. After a light lunch you may want to relax on the beach, swimming and snorkelling or hike to the nearby Genoese Fort. In the evening you can enjoy a delicious meal on board anchored in this delightful bay, one of Corsica’s most untouched gems.
Day 7: In the morning we set sail for our final destination, Calvi, cruising along a mountainous coast until its imposing citadel comes into view. Calvi is a charming and vibrant town known for its historic citadel, beautiful beaches and lively marina. There will be time to explore its narrow streets filled with boutiques, cafés and galleries and take in the spectacular panoramic views on offer then relax on Calvi’s long sandy beach or enjoy water sports in the bay. A gourmet dinner at one of Calvi’s renowned restaurants will be a fitting end to your journey, and the opportunity to raise a toast and celebrate the past week’s memorable adventures.
