The ecofriendly Formula E Grand Prix in Monaco

The most exhilarating and ecofriendly motorsport  –  the Monaco E- Prix 30th April 2022.

Experience the Formula E: If you’ve never experienced a Formula E world championship race – then now is the time.  The excitement and the drama have no equal among spectator sports owing to the Monaco electric circuit’s tight bends, hills and tunnels, quite unlike any other track in the world.
It may not be as noisy, but with their electric motors creating 80dB, and the brake and tyre squeals generated as they hurtle round the corners at breakneck speed – they are far from silent !

For an uninterrupted view of the circuit, many of the rich and famous take to the harbour on their charter or private yachts, superyachts and mega yachts, rather than rely on the crowded grandstands on land. This provides the opportunity not only to see a significant part of the circuit, but also to host friends and family for this very special event, a safe distance away from the masses with mega yachts for charter.

Formula E drivers all race in cars with the same chassis – they may look the same but the engines are very different, and the racing is as competitive as the F1. That competitiveness and the tight circuits mean the racing is fun – there are regular crashes – and each race tends to generate different pole-positions and podium winners.  What’s more the Formula E practice, qualifying and ‘super–pole’ races take place on the same day.

How do Formula E cars work? Formula E cars use an inverter that takes the electricity created by the battery and converts it from a direct current (DC) to an alternating current (AC) charge, which the motor uses to turn the wheels. We expect an improved type of car for 2022 with a more ‘open-wheel’ design – akin to F1 cars and a significant increase in power to – 350 kW in qualifying and 300 kW in the race.

Monaco is the second smallest and the most densely populated country in the world, located on the French Riviera; and towering on a rock high above the city is the ruling Grimaldi’s castle. The Grimaldi’s have been in power almost 800 years! Visiting Monaco for the E-prix offers a great opportunity to take time out to explore this unique principality, away from the bustle of the motor racing.

Being an observer of any Monaco Grand Prix is an experience never forgotten, and to be able to enjoy it from the deck of a private superyacht in the company of family and friends is a privilege afforded to only a few.  The 2022 Monaco E-Prix event runs on the 30th April – so be sure to arrange your superyacht charter now to be sure of a ringside seat.
